Our supporting Artists

Though the Accademia dell'Opera Italiana is dedicated to fostering and elevating the careers of young emerging opera singers and répétiteurs, we are equally delighted to welcome passionate adult opera enthusiasts into our fold, whose invaluable support helps to enrich and sustain the vibrant initiatives we create for the next generation of talent.

  • MariaPia La Colla

MariaPia was born on November 21, 1947, in La Maddalena, a small island in northeastern Sardinia. After graduating in English Literature from Cagliari, she pursued a career teaching English. Throughout her teaching years, she explored creative methods to engage students, often using music as a tool. One of her most significant projects was organising a choir for both teachers and students, which ignited her own passion for singing. This led her to join the ST Cosma and Damiano Choir, where she has been singing as a soprano ever since.

Her choral experiences have taken her abroad, with performances in cities such as Barcelona, Paris, Prague, and a highlight in Brussels, where she sang at the European Parliament and the Notre Dame au Sablon Church in 2012.

In 2015, she met Maestra Nila Masala during a masterclass at the Festival Bosa Antica, marking the beginning of her studies in lyrical singing. Since then, she has performed solo pieces, including Gounod's Ave Maria, Franck's Panis Angelicus, Verdi’s Stornello, Mozart’s Deh vieni non tardar, and the Rossini Cat Duet. She continues to study Mozart arias with Maestra Masala, furthering her passion for opera.

  • Caterina Solinas

Caterina Solinas was born in Bonorva, Sardinia. She is a Maestra of Latin American dance, as well as group and partner dances, and a choreographer. A lifelong musician, singer, and guitarist, she has been part of the Coro Polifonico della Planargia for about 26 years, performing as a soprano and soloist.

For years, she has studied vocal technique, breathing, and both classical and modern singing under professional vocal coaches, choir conductors, and orchestra directors. She regularly performs in various polyphonic concerts in Sardinia and beyond, as well as solo performances, accompanied by renowned musicians.
