Paul Mnatsakanov is an emerging young American-Russian collaborative pianist/répétiteur, historical keyboardist and pianist. In his performances, he seeks to share with audiences an understanding of music as an art form that is all about meaning, storytelling and emotion.

His philosophy is that music should always speak and convey something about the universe to the listener. His passion for conducting, opera directing, and languages, of which he fluently speaks English, Russian, French and Italian, inspire and inform his playing and répétiteur work.

Recently, he attained a first-class degree in his undergraduate studies at the Royal College of Music in London as an RCM scholar and as a Joint Principal Study student with the Head of Piano, Prof. Vanessa Latarche, fortepiano professor, Dr. Geoffrey Govier, and Chair of Historical Keyboard Instruments, Prof. Terence Charlston. Currently, he is beginning his postgraduate studies as a first-study collaborative pianist with Assistant Head of Keyboard, Simon Lepper and Prof. Vanessa Latarche, and second-study conductor with Head of Conducting, Toby Purser. He also studies piano with Philippe Raskin at the Gulda School of Music in Vienna, Austria.

As a collaborative pianist and répétiteur, Paul has coached singers in a wide range of repertoire, including on Mozart’s Don Giovanni and Le Nozze di Figaro, Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, Puccini’s La Boheme, as well as on French song repertoire. In July 2024, he prepared singers and directed from the harpsichord a performance of Monteverdi, Rameau and Handel opera scenes.

Paul is a winner of multiple international competitions including “Kendall Taylor Beethoven Piano Competition” (London, 2024, 1st prize), “Valsesia Musica International Competition” (Varallo, Italy, 2023, 1st prize), “Città di Cantù International Piano and Orchestra Competition” (Cantù, Italy, 2022, 1st prize and special prize for the best performance of a Beethoven piano concerto), amongst
others. He has been commended as one of the best collaborative pianists at the Brooks-van-der-Pump English Song Competition at the Royal College of Music this year.

Paul has performed in numerous venues in London, including Wigmore Hall, the Elgar Room at the Royal Albert Hall, St George’s Hanover Square, Austrian Cultural Forum, St. Mary Abbots Church, as well as in regional venues including Pallant House Gallery in Chichester, West Sussex, Holy Trinity Church in Bramley, Surrey, amongst other concert venues in England and Wales. He has played in festivals in Italy, Russia, France, the USA, Armenia, and other countries, and has collaborated with many orchestras in Europe.Future performance engagements for the 2024-2025 concert season include recitals at St. James Piccadilly in London, Hrvatski dom Split in Croatia, GC de Lijsterbes in Kraainem, Belgium, and Museu Romântico in Porto, Portugal.
