The Accademia dell’Opera Italiana (AOI) is thrilled to present Cavalleria Rusticana, Pietro Mascagni’s enduring opera that delves into the depths of love, jealousy, and vengeance. This semi-staged production features the exceptional talents of AOI's Young Artists, offering an intimate and powerful portrayal of this classic work.

From Italy to London – An Authentic Operatic Journey

Our two casts have already debuted their roles in Southern Italy, following a three-week immersive program that combined intensive rehearsals with the rich cultural experiences of the Italian "Dolce Vita." This comprehensive approach ensures that their performances are infused with genuine Italian artistry and passion.

Meet the Artistic Team

  • Musical Director: Emanuela Di Pietro
    Emanuela Di Pietro has served as Chorus Master at Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari, and Teatro Verdi in Trieste. She is a principal professor at the Conservatorio di Musica San Pietro a Majella in Naples. Her international experience includes conducting the Verdi Festival in Beijing and collaborating with renowned conductors such as Claudio Abbado and Riccardo Muti.

  • Director: Marco Bellussi
    With over 25 years of experience, Marco Bellussi has directed productions across Italy and internationally, including engagements at Teatro La Fenice, Teatro Goldoni di Venezia, and major houses in Germany and Belgium. His innovative approach blends traditional opera with contemporary insights, captivating audiences worldwide.

  • Vocal Coaches & Voice Teachers:

    • Massimo Modoni
      Baritone and founder of AOI, Massimo Modoni is dedicated to mentoring the next generation of opera singers, emphasizing authentic vocal technique and interpretation.

    • Nila Masala
      Born in Sassari, Sardinia, soprano Nila Masala has graced prestigious stages worldwide, including the Festival Puccini of Torre del Lago, Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, and Seoul Arts Center. Acclaimed for her portrayal of Turandot, she has collaborated with renowned conductors and directors throughout her illustrious career.
