We are thrilled to announce the first masterclass of our 2024 2025 Academic year, led by the acclaimed Italian soprano, Nila Masala.
Born in Sassari, Sardinia, Nila Masala has graced some of the most prestigious theatres in the world, including the Festival Puccini of Torre del Lago, Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Seul Art Centre, Teatro Politeama Greco in Lecce, Teatro di Pisa, and Teatro Nuovo Orione. A graduate of the "Luisa D'Annunzio" conservatory of Pescara, Masala has honed her craft under the tutelage of renowned maestros such as Mirella Freni and Gianni Raimondi.
Masala's illustrious career is decorated with numerous awards, including the prestigious "Puccini Prize" and first prizes in international contests such as "Cappuccilli – Patanè – Respighi" and "Ritorna Vincitor." She is celebrated for her key roles as Princess Turandot in "Turandot," Santuzza in "Cavalleria Rusticana," Minnie in "La Fanciulla del West," and Floria Tosca in "Tosca." She collaborated with conductors and directors such as Daniel Oren,Francesco Ivan Ciampa,Paolo Olmi,Giuseppe Acquaviva, Gianna Fratta, Enzo Scaparro, Michele Mirabella, Vittorio Sgarbi, Cristian Taraborrelli and Davide Livermoore.
AOi is delighete to introduce the 12 Young Artists Selected for the 2024/25 edition of Accademia dell’Opera Italiana. Each of our YA has been auditioned and handpicked among the best students and graduates of the UK’s top conservatoires. Our programme is designed to complement their academic training, providing training and work experience with ties to some of today's leading Italian Opera personalities and opportunities to further develop their skills and valuable insights on today’s Opera Landscape in Europe.
Our first masterclass is offered on a full scholarship base for all Vocal Masters and Opera school students as part of our educational program. We also welcome professional singers and adult learners who may wish to join. The sessions will take place on Friday 15th November and Saturday 16th at our London studio, In 64 Squires Lane, Finchley, London N32AP. The first dress rehearsal will be part of our free home concert series on Saturday November 16th at 4pm. Our Opera Gala will crown the masterclass as the final public performance, in the wonderful setting of the Grade 2 listed Lauderdale House in Highgate.

Listeners will be welcome and a small donation of 20£ will be used to support the initiative that is offered free of charge to all young artists.
