Faculty Announcement – Upcoming Masterclass in London

We are delighted to announce that Andrés, one of Italy's finest repetiteurs, will join our Founder, Massimo Modoni on April 11th and 12th in running a masterclass on Italian Audition Repertoire, providing both his invaluable repertoire and accompanying coaching and Massimo’s vocal technique knowledge.

About Andrés Jesus Gallucci

Born in 1987, Andrés graduated with highest honours, distinction, and an Honourable Mention in piano performance from the “T. Schipa” Conservatoire in Lecce under the tutelage of Prof. Silvana Libardo. He went on to complete a specialist degree in musical disciplines at the “N. Rota” Conservatoire in Monopoli, studying under M° Roberto Bollea, again achieving top honours and distinction.

He has participated in advanced training courses with internationally renowned artists such as Ilya Itin, Oscar Martin, Gulsin Onay, Jorge Luis Prats, Michele Marvulli, and Aquiles Delle Vigne.

In 2011, Andrés began exploring operatic repertoire, collaborating with the Lyrical Choir of Lecce directed by M° Emanuela di Pietro and the Polyphonic Choir of the University of Salento directed by M° De Luca.

In 2014, he graduated from the Teatro alla Scala Academy, completing the répétiteur course. During this time, he participated in productions of the “Progetto Accademia” season at La Scala and worked with the Kaliningrad Opera House (Russia) and the Royal Opera House of Muscat (Oman). In 2015, he attended the Riccardo Muti Opera Academy, collaborating on the production of Falstaff during the Ravenna Festival.


Artistic Career

Since 2015, Andrés has forged collaborations with prestigious opera festivals and productions. He currently serves as a répétiteur at the Fondazione Teatro Fraschini in Pavia and the Teatro Sociale di Como, contributing to the Opera Lombardia circuit and the Como Città della Musica Festival.

From 2021, he has been engaged as a répétiteur and stage pianist at the Teatro Regio di Parma for the Festival Verdi. His career also includes collaborations with renowned festivals and opera houses, such as:

  • Rossini in Wildbad Belcanto Opera Festival

  • Royal Opera Festival (Kraków Philharmonic)

  • Shangyin Opera House (Shanghai)

  • Seasons at the Teatri di Reggio Emilia, Teatro “D. Alighieri” (Ravenna), and Teatro Nazionale (Milan)

  • Opera season at the Auditorio de Tenerife (Spain)

  • During the 2018/2019 opera season, he served as stage répétiteur at Teatro alla Scala in Milan.

Andrés has worked alongside acclaimed opera artists, including Filippo Morace, Roberto Coviello, Silvia Dalla Benetta, Tiziana Fabbricini, Andrea Mastroni, Maria Grazia Schiavo, Alberto Gazale, Denia Mazzola Gavazzeni, and Lella Cuberli, among others.

He has been a vocal coach at the Civic School of Music “C. Abbado” in Milan and currently holds positions at the “G. Verdi” Conservatoire in Milan and the “F. Vittadini” Conservatoire in Pavia.

About the Masterclass

This masterclass is designed for 8 young professional singers and 4 répétiteurs, who will also be invited to perform at the Opera Gala on April 13th at 11.30am, in the main auditorium of Conway Hall. Each participant will have the unique opportunity to work with Andrés and Massimo for an hour each day on two Italian operatic arias or a scene of their choice, one from the XIX century tradition and one from either XVIII or XX century focusing on vocal technique, language, and the stylistics of Italian bel canto, as well as the relationship between repetiteur and their singers. Each répétiteur will be assigned to 2 singers, at the panel's discretion.

The masterclass is available following an online audition and is priced at £175 per participant.

The Accademia dell’Opera Italiana (AOI) is pleased to offer two scholarships to talented young artists under the age of 28. The recipients will be selected by Maestro Gallucci and Maestro Modoni upon completion of the selection process.
