Citta' di Nardo' - Concerto per la Pace

  • Teatro Comunale di Nardo' Corso Vittorio Emanuele II Nardò, Puglia, 73048 Italy (map)

The Soloists of the Accademia dell'Opera Italiana (AOI), accompanied and conducted by Maestro Brian Hughes, present the Concerto per la Pace, an engaging event that celebrates hope and reconciliation through the beauty of music on the occasion of Easter.

The spiritual depth of Gioachino Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle is paired with bel canto operatic repertoire, offering the audience a musical experience that spans from spirituality to the emotional power of Italian melodrama. Our Ensamble will perform some of the most significant pieces for soloists, from the Petite Messe Solennelle, composed in 1863. This mass, despite its "petite" title, contains moments of great solemnity and intimacy, blending the elegance of bel canto with Rossini's typical spiritual intensity, perfectly suiting the message of peace this concert seeks to convey.

The programme will also include a selection of arias, duets, and trios from the grand bel canto operatic repertoire, featuring scenes from works by Bellini, Verdi, Puccini, and Donizetti. The artists of the Accademia will perform well-known pages and hidden jewels of the repertoire, enhancing the expressiveness and vocal virtuosity characteristic of this style. The AOI soloists, under the direction of Maestro Brian Hughes, will offer the audience a journey between the beauty of sacred music and the lyricism of Italian opera, providing an intense experience of art and emotion in the name of peace and hope at this special time of the year
