Hughes&Modoni are excited to announce their next monthly concert in partnership with the London School of Piano. Our August concert features the dynamic duo of Tom Donald and Brian Hughes, both teachers at LCSP.
Tom Donald is an Australian-London-pianist known for his improvisational approach. His performances, including appearances at the London Jazz Festival at Conway Hall and on Sky Arts and BBC Radio London, have positioned him as a distinctive voice in the fusion of classical and jazz music. As the founder of the London Contemporary School of Piano, Tom plays a key role in shaping contemporary music education, fostering a global community of pianists through www.contemporaryschoolofpiano.com. His compositions, such as "Symphony of Voices" for UN Refugee Week and "Written in the Scrolls" aired on BBC Radio 3, are noted for their blend of musical traditions with modern sensibilities.
For this concert, Tom will be stepping in for his friend, Alberto L Ferro, who is unable to perform due to personal commitments. Both Alberto and Tom have performed and improvised together on a number of occasions at the London Contemporary School of Piano.
Tom will present a program of spontaneous improvisations and original compositions combined with well known songs played in a number of different styles.
Tom's most recent album, "Pax Aaterna" continues his exploration of blending genres, featuring a collaboration with the monks of Pluscarden Abbey that combines Gregorian chants with jazz piano.
Catch Tom live, performing his unique compositions and some jazz standards, accompanied by vocalist Brian Hughes. The concert will also be live-streamed to all members and followers of the London Contemporary School of Piano.
